What an EXCITING first day of school we had! One my kids will NEVER forget....
Darren started 6th grade, which is Jr. High where we live. Yikes!
Blake & Ryan started 2nd grade and they were thrilled!
We started our morning with their favorite breakfast treat, French Toast Casserole!
I packed them extra special surprise lunches.
They picked out their FAVORITE new school outfits.
Donned their new tennis shoes.
Had family prayer.
They couldn't wait to see all their friends again and meet their new teachers.
We hopped in the van and headed for school!
***That's when it all went awry!!
We were heading down Campus Park, when a lady left her stop sign early and tried to turn left in front of me. She never looked left before turning across all lanes of traffic and never saw me coming. I smacked right into the left front side of her car. It was clearly her fault as I had the right of way, but what a nightmare! Luckily, all the kids were held safe by their seat-belts. They all have scratches and bruises on their necks and/or chests from the seat belts. I have burns & cuts on my arm from the airbag, and other bruises on my hand, feet, knee, chest, hips, and very sore neck and shoulder. It hurts to hold up or turn my head. I have to go to physical therapy. Yuck. My car is officially a total loss which I'm glad for. I wouldn't want to put my family back in that car after what it went through. Many passers by stopped to help. The fire dept. came and when I called Jason his fire truck came as well. It was quite a scene. Men in yellow everywhere! After the reports were given and the dust settled, the fire trucks gave us rides home (so cool for the kids). A neighbor took Darren to school so he wouldn't be late. The other kids and myself got checked out by our doctors and the boys made it to school just in time for lunch with their friends. What a way to start the school year!
We are so grateful the Lord watched over and protected us! This could have had a much worse outcome. We are thankful! We have had many prayers, calls, meals, babysitting, etc. from friends and loved ones! We thank you all for your offers of support. It's such a scary thing and your love and concern has helped us through! Thank you!!
My poor little van.
